Someone introduced my family to The Last Airbender. I was pretty skeptical at first. I mean, it’s a kid’s cartoon. But would you believe I totally got sucked in? And not just me, but the husband too. Enough that we had to make a rule that the kids can’t watch it without Mom and Dad, not because of any questionable content, but because we don’t want to miss episodes!
These characters are able to control the elements around them in a dance of waving arms and hands. Naturally this lends way to epic battles and profound character growth. Big fan. Big fan.
So as I sit in front of a computer screen I can’t help but wish for my own bending power. What would it be like to wave my hands around and perform a few fancy steps, pulling all the thoughts and images from my brain into place on the page? To be able to wordbend would make this whole process effortless. Perhaps even now the Avatar is unlocking ancient secrets to unleash this power and will make the trek to my door to recruit me for training.
But until then I’ll continue to pick at the keyboard like some poor, regular nonbender and fill that blank screen with words the old fashioned way.
Hurray!
